A sturdy, beautiful table starts with the right wood. Face-laminating boards creates a thick hardwood surface that holds up better and looks richer than softer construction lumber.

Those fine ridges after CNC surfacing can keep a project from feeling finished. A sanding attachment smooths them away, revealing a clean, polished surface.

Honest question for the weekend: dark and rectangular, or light and round?

We build both, we have opinions, and we'll keep them to ourselves. Vote in the comments.

Table and chairs, stained to match, delivered together.

A lot of folks buy a table and then spend six months trying to find chairs that go with it. We pair our tables with Amish-built chairs and stain the table to match, so the set shows up as a set.

This one's a trestle in dark walnut and Jacobean. It seats a crowd, and we're told it's already been tested on a holiday.

Quick one: how do you tell solid wood from the other stuff?

Look at the edge. On a solid top, the grain wraps over the edge and keeps going. On veneer, you'll see a thin skin on top and something different underneath.

Solid wood is heavier, it can be sanded and refinished in 20 years, and it doesn't peel. That's why we don't build any other way.

Delivered, set up, and we may have stayed a little longer than we needed to.

Some tables get a wall. This one got a window.

When a family orders from us, they're picking the size, the wood, and the stain for their room, not ours. That's the whole point. It should look like it was always supposed to be there.

Fresh out of the finish room.

Round tables don't get enough credit. Nobody's stuck at a corner, everyone can see everyone, and the kid at the end of the table isn't actually at the end of anything.

Solid walnut, built here in East Idaho, and about to go live somewhere a lot nicer than a shop floor.

Saturday morning at a table that's ready for whoever shows up.

Table, chairs, and an upholstered bench, delivered as a set. The sign on the wall says Gather. The table can handle it.

Solid oak, built in East Idaho.

Bench or chairs? Here's our take.

A bench seats one more kid than you planned on. It tucks all the way under the table when nobody's using it. And there's nothing to tip over backward.

Chairs win on comfort for long dinners. That's why most of our sets end up with a bench on the kitchen side and chairs on the wall side.

Trestle table and matching bench, same stain, same hand.

Delivered before the drywall dust settled.

This one went into a house that isn't finished yet. No trim, plastic on the windows, and a solid wood table sitting in the middle of it like it owns the place. Which it does now.

Walnut top, white trestle base. Built in East Idaho, built to outlast the construction mess and about forty years of dinners after it.
