Farming season 2026 is in! We got a little rain over the weekend, so time to hit the fields and disc them. Once im done with the tasks of today, my nose will be in this Farming While Black book by for Book Review Club with the Back Forty crew led by . We go live on TikTok next Wednesday at 7pm Est.

So, Ive been thinking. What are some specific black issues this book is missing? One particular thing in the black community we all know about is CP time. We tend not to like it, but honestly, it's good reasons why some farmers are on CP time. Our farm typically plants later in the Spring because we are limited resourced. We dont have the barns to work on equipment comfortably over the winter. We dont have the budget to replant crops like we use to be able to do in the past. Heck, diesel so high, we literally can't run tractors crazy all day and waste fuel. It's hard for us to be early to the plant party. One thing is for sure, God is always on time, so we will find a way. 1 love to the folks who work the fields. 1 love to those who support the field workers, too.

This Earth Day, I’m asking for a little help from my community. 🌱

Farming isn’t easy, and this season I’m working hard to get our cotton crop in the ground—but I can’t do it alone. Every seed planted is a step toward something bigger than me… it’s about legacy, land, and keeping this work alive for the next generation.

If you’ve ever believed in what I’m building or just want to support a Black farmer trying to keep going, anything you can give truly makes a difference.

Fabric of Us building for year 2 is important. It's starts with a successful crop in the spring. I hope im able to get it done. Any help you can send this way will be truly be appreciated. Diesel cost $6 a gallon. Every input is high. Whew, how do a small farmer survive? God and help from their community. I just need to be able to plant a couple bags of seeds. Seeds $600 a bag. I would love to get a seeds company sponsorship. I guess anything is possible via the internet. 1 love yall.

My homies from made this for me. Since it's been made, I might as well post it. If you can't beat AI, might as well learn to use it. On a serious tip, I do advocate for farmers to use technologies to today to promote themselves. I guess I can dig the look Ai gives me. Its only using the data presented to them, right? Who knows?!?! Thanks for the shoutout in Black History Month!

Last night was special. I was invited to an event to celebrate black farmers in the NC Governor's mansion. I was chilling in the back, listening to The Honorable Eva Clayton give a speech. She started talking about the contributions of Black Farmers in NC historically. Then she started to talk about a farmer from Northampton County. My ears perked up. Then she talked about how he has revolutionized how people saw cotton. Then she said my name, and told everyone in the room, "... guest what the name of his business?!? BLACK COTTON!" I told her after the event, you almost made me cry, thank you for acknowledging me.

By the way, shout out to all the black farmers and agriculture leaders in the Governors mansion tonight. My farmer homie/college schoolmate Jason Brown gave a terrific speech about the state of farmers. I am extremely proud of him and all the farmers recognized.

Shout out lastly to our NC Governor Josh Stein, and his team for the great event to honor our black farmers and agriculture leaders in Black History month.

This is Black History right now!

For those who have followed my journey with Black Cotton, you know this work is bigger than a business—it’s a legacy. I’m a 5th-generation Black farmer in North Carolina, working every day to reclaim our story, honor our ancestors, and build something lasting for future generations.

The truth is, I haven’t always known how to monetize my work well. I’ve been pushing forward with heart, passion, and vision—but now I’m at a point where I need working capital to keep growing, hiring, creating, and expanding the mission.

So today, I’m humbly asking my community for help.

If you believe in the importance of Black agriculture…
If you’ve supported the movement of reclaiming our narratives…
If you’ve ever shared a post, visited an event, or felt inspired by this work…
Your support right now would mean more than I can express.

No amount is too small. Every seed planted helps this legacy continue to grow.
Thank you for pouring into this mission, standing with me, and believing in Black Cotton.

Oh, by the way...this is our group picture from the Fabric Of Us event, the new greatest celebration of cotton and the people who are reclaiming it with me. Be blessed, yall.
