We don't usually screenshot our own reviews, but we're making an exception for this one. 😅

Turns out not everyone's thrilled with the work we do.

(For the record — we stand by this one. No refunds.)

Groundwater is one of those things we all learned about at some point, but it's surprisingly hard to picture because… well, you can't see it.

It isn't usually a giant underground pool sitting beneath your house. Rain and snow soak into the ground and move through soil, gravel, and cracks in rock, filling tiny spaces underground. If your home is on a private well, that's the water your well is reaching down to collect and bring into your house.

And that's why what happens above ground matters. Things like a poorly maintained septic system, spilled chemicals or fuel, fertilizers, pesticides, and problems around the well itself can potentially affect the groundwater below.

Protecting it starts with a few simple habits: keep chemicals, fuel, and fertilizer away from your wellhead, stay on top of septic system checkups, and make sure your well cap and casing are properly sealed.

The strange part is that you may never know just by looking at a glass of water. Groundwater can be completely clear and still tell you very little about what's actually in it.

September 2 is , and for well owners, it's a good reminder that the water beneath your property isn't separate from the world above it. Protect the area around your well, keep your system maintained, and test your water regularly.

You may never see your groundwater, but you rely on it every day.

Your well doesn't send a notification when something changes.

By late August, groundwater levels are naturally lower than they were in spring — which means your well is pulling from a smaller, more concentrated part of the aquifer. Add in a summer of storms following dry stretches, nearby septic systems, or new construction disturbing the ground nearby, and what's coming out of your tap can shift without ever looking, smelling, or tasting different.

That's exactly why annual testing matters, even when everything seems fine. "Fine" is often just "untested."

Free in-home well water test, no pressure, no obligation. If it's been a year (or longer) since your last one, now's a good time.

Unfilered water not only tastes like poo, it usually has some in it!

AI data centers are absolutely causing a ton of issues not only with water usage but also with dumping and leaching into the groundwater, which can have unknowingly bad side effects similar to what happened with Aaron Brockovich and the chromium 6 scandal. Make sure you guys are staying safe out there. Get your water tested and look into water filtration.

In our last post we talked about what's actually happening under your sink with an RO system. Here's the part that matters most to parents: it changes whether your kids actually drink the water.

No chlorine taste. No weird smell. Just water that's easy to reach for — which means easier hydration, easier lunch-packing, one less thing to think about on school mornings.

Backpacks are packed. Lunches are made. Might as well make the water something they don't have to be talked into.

It's tucked under your sink, out of sight, easy to forget about. But your RO system is doing more work than almost anything else in your kitchen.

It's reducing up to 99% of common contaminants (PFAS, lead, fluoride, arsenic, chlorine, and more) before that water ever hits your glass. Every cup of coffee, every pot you cook with, every bottle you fill for the kids. All of it's running through a system smaller than your trash can.

Curious if RO makes sense for your home — city or well water, either way? Learn more about it on our website: clearwavewater.com/reverse-osmosis

We know. You drank from the hose as a kid and turned out fine.

But that water's been sitting in a hot rubber hose all day, picking up whatever's already in there, running through outdoor plumbing that was never built to be a drinking source.

Watering the lawn? Perfect job for it.
Filling the dog's bowl? Sure, if the hose is clean.
A nostalgic summer sip straight from the nozzle?

We're begging you. Let 1997 stay in 1997. 😄

If your new house came with an unfamiliar softener, old filters, an unexplained bypass valve, or absolutely no maintenance history, don’t assume it all needs to be replaced. Have it inspected first. Sometimes a system needs an upgrade. Sometimes it simply needs service and someone willing to explain it without turning the visit into a sales pitch.

Give us call at (757) 828-8594 and let’s take a look at the system you inherited.
