Have you been to Covent Garden? Visited the market and strolled around the cobbled london streets?

A 17th century house once home to Hogarth’s line engraver Charles Grignon, had a fragment of wallpaper in it waiting to be restored.

The paper today, looks as though it was never forgotten!

Wallpaper can be made using many different processes and this one wallpaper in particular has been printed using screen printing, hand block printing and the more modern approach of digital printing.

JASMINE
Probably one of our most versitile wallpapers ‘Jasmine’ a climbing full coverage foliage design, started as a fragment discovered during the restoration of Cyfarthfa Castle S. Wales.

JASMINE DOT
The original design has small dots on the background
of the wallpaper, we used these alone to create
‘Jasmine Dot’ a more delicate version of the design.

JASMINE FLORAL
Developed for Herregards Museum Copenhagen, Denmark, another version of the design was created, this time adjusting the design to have the flowers a different colour and removing the dots from the paper completely.

To celebrate Chelsea Flower Show we wanted to share some of our favourite projects that bring the outdoors in using two of our talented artists. 🌸
roberts bringing hand painted floral wallpaper to a new level of elegance. Flora has designed a mix of mural and traditional repeat papers bringing the outdoors in like no one else.

uses intricate hand cut paper motifs and drawings brinigng these together to create unique wallpapers that tell the stories of being in a garden, while also brining a charm to the characters
she created.

The National Trusts Uppark House 🌳

In 1989 Uppark had a major fire. The £20 million restoration project for the main house required the work of specialist craftspeople in order to restore the objects and interiors within the house. We were
priveliged to be asked to be part of the project, restoring not 1 but 5 wallpapers!

The restored wallpapers are still in the house today and are used in a variety of projects by designers around the world.

Two petite trellis designs made from dots and
floral motifs, each from different eras but both
perfect for decorating smaller rooms that call out for some heritage charm.

Both designs are hand block printed, adding interest to the walls of any room. Dashwood can also be digitally printed because as we know littles ones can brush against walls when building dens and creating memories.

We’ve moved!

Our new studio home is located in the beautiful
market town of Marlborough, Wiltshire.

The 17th century building is full of history, with views of the widest high street in the UK and roof tops which Mary Poppins would be proud of! (our wallpapers were in the 2nd Mary Poppins movie incase you didn’t know..) ☂️

‘Kew Green’ a beloved wallpaper of ours which we’ve brought back to life from our archive.

The design was Inspired by Indian ‘chintz’ and was found behind paneling in the 1st floor Reception Room of a house near the Kew Botanical Gardens, hence the name ‘Kew Green’.

📺 As seen on: You might have seen it on the ITV period drama ‘Belgravia’ which aired in 2020.

We love working on bespoke projects, restoring wallpapers that might have been forgotten underneath years of paint and paper.

Taking you back to 1900 with the help of who we had the pleasure of working with to restore and produce three glorious wallpapers for his Victorian Cottage restoration.

Using fragments of the wallpapers found, these papers were redrawn and printed bringing them back to life and hung in their rightful home in the Chapel Street Cottage.
