This June, join AIA Virginiaโ€™s Committee on the Environment + U.S. Green Building Council for a tour of the LEED Gold renovation of Shannon Library at University of Virginia. This transformative project restores the historic 1938 library for a new century โ€” featuring a 130,000-square-foot addition and 100,000 square foot renovation of the historic building, modernized study and research spaces for efficiency and natural light, restored historic fixtures, and major sustainability achievements including 40%+ energy cost savings, rainwater retention, and extensive material reuse โ€“ over 120 tons of metal shelving was recycled.
