Story time:
Recently, I had an appointment to get on a homeowners roof to assess their damage. On our initial phone call, she told me had already gotten her Scope of Work from her insurance company, and she was collecting estimates to repair her roof.
Normally when I’m asked for an estimate, it tells me the homeowner is trying to do their due diligence, and they just don’t know that estimates are pointless. That’s a topic for another day though.
I arrived to the homeowners home, and it became obvious how much she was being taken advantage of by her insurance company.
Her roof was destroyed.
Her insurance claimed she could repair it for less than the cost of her $3000 deductible. Therefore she didn’t receive any money.
On top of that, these insurance companies have been putting out statements specifically to cause fear among homeowners.

I left her home that day with the knowledge that she will lose her house because her insurance company lied to keep all of the money she was entitled to.
