These clients were such a joy to work with from beginning to end, making the process seamless but also making my heart full. We as designers bring so much more to a project than making things pretty. Granted, we do that well too, but what’s most exciting is our problem solving ideas on how to make homes flow and function optimally. Scroll to the end where you’ll see the original location of the kitchen in this 100 year old home situated in the middle with only one small window wall as well as the original family room.

We suggested moving the kitchen to the furthest point of the house (the original family room), creating an opportunity for not only more natural light and a larger footprint, but a dining patio as well as a new mudroom.

Could we have made it work with the original layout? Certainly. But when you’re making changes, consider those providing significant added value to your home and every day life!

If you have a HS senior, here is the most incredible advice my friend shared this morning. In notes, title one named Things I’ve Done. Baby pictures, paid graduation parking spots, ordered yearbook, and anything at all that your future self will thank you for the confirmation. It is next to impossible to remember it all, so I’m grateful for the genius tip (and for my friends on our committees tolerating my questions on what I’ve already done 🙃).

Such exciting projects underway including kitchens and baths which will always have my heart to design. Looking forward also allows us to look back and appreciate the details and beauty from past work. Here I used marble profiles as our applied wall mouldings, with sheer drapery and brass finishes to elevate the entire bath design. This home will be included in a Rizzoli published book this spring, our very first book feature! 🤍
