Hey everyone — quick reminder as the temps start dipping! ❄️
Please remove your garden hoses from your outdoor spigots before the freeze hits.

Leaving them attached traps water in the line, which can cause your pipes (and your wallet 💸) to burst from the pressure. Not exactly the kind of “indoor water feature” anyone wants.

So do your pipes a favor — go outside, unscrew that hose, drain it, and tuck it away for winter.
Your plumbing will thank you (and so will we 😉).

With a heavy heart, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office announces the passing of Corrections Officer James “Jimmy” Udesen.

Jimmy dedicated 21 years to our agency, always serving with a smile. He passed away yesterday after a courageous battle.

Jimmy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, coach and friend, who left a positive impact in his community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and all those that knew and loved him.

Do you have a high school student interested in the trades? Applications will be opening in February for the summer 2025 Rotational Internship Program!

The 10-week paid internship program is open to all county high school students, ages 16 to 18, who are interested in a career in manufacturing or engineering. Students will be paired with local manufacturers and be paid $16 an hour while gaining invaluable work experience in an exciting and lucrative field. No previous work experience is necessary.

Now in its fourth year, the program has provided 281 opportunities for McHenry County high school students to gain valuable workplace skills at 33 area manufacturers. Some of them have since gotten full-time jobs and are pursuing manufacturing as a career!
