I wanted to make a train table on a budget for my little boy so I watched a few Youtube videos, purchased a circular saw, dusted off the rarely used drill and went to town. When I was finished my wife and son were blown away by the results. I knew there was room to improve and I knew I stumbled upon a new hobby that I could give up. Three years later I am addicted to woodworking and have a dedicat

ed space in my garage with an ever growing collection of tools and lumber. I am Scott Kershaw and I started Cutthroat Woodworks in attempt to brand the creations of a hobby that is my passion. My wife, two kiddos and I lived in picturesque Missoula, Montana surrounded by the Westslope Cutthroat trout-filled streams and snow-capped peaks. We have established a great life here and are proud to call Montana home. Cutthroat Woodworks utilizes new and reclaimed lumber to create a myriad of woodworking projects for display and use by all walks of life. Here’s our start to wooden versions of that Danish building brick company’s figurine heads. We’ve got one in mulberry, ash and silver maple. More are coming in blue-stained ponderosa, ambrosia maple, pear and sycamore. Huge thanks to Mike at for the plans and video. We’re very late to the party but whatever gets the kids interested in turning is what I’ll take.

Ryan is cranking out wooden Lego minifigure heads lately. He’s loving this project and my mind is at total ease since his PPE includes fresh air thanks to the respirator! It fits his noggin well, keeps him cool and no dust is getting to him from these dry chips and shavings. Best yet, I’m super proud of him and I love spinning wood next to him. More to come when we complete the wooden brick cabezas.

Ryan is getting TOP TIER woodturning instruction from at the located inside today. I can’t say I’ve ever worried that my varigrind jigs would get lost in a pile of them but now I never have to consider it. For kicks and grind I engraved my logo into them on the .official 40W S1. Sometimes puttering is okay and productivity isn’t the goal.
