It's still hot outside, but everyone's already in their fall 🍁 feelings, so why not bake anyway? 👩🏻🍳 These Horchata Apple 🍏 Rolls are the perfect in-between: warm, cinnamon-spiced, and topped with a homemade horchata agua fresca that soaks right into the rolls while they're fresh out of the oven.
Ingredients 👇🏼
-1 can Pillsbury Grands! Apple Rolls with Vanilla Icing
Hortchata: (You could also use store-bought)
-2 cups water
-1 cinnamon stick
-1 cup rice
-2 1/2 cups water
-1 can evaporated milk (12 oz)
-1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
-2 cups whole milk
-1-2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Instructions 📝
Horchata:
1. Soak the rice in water with the cinnamon stick. Let it sit at room temp overnight.
2. The next day, add the rice mixture to a blender with the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and 1 cup of whole milk. Blend and strain.
3. Add 1 more cup of milk (or more to taste) until you get the consistency you like.
4. Reserve 1 cup of the horchata agua fresca for soaking the rolls later.
Fruit Rolls:
5. Grease a baking dish with butter. Open your Pillsbury Grands! Apple Rolls with Vanilla Icing. Arrange the rolls in the dish and bake at 350°F for 23-25 minutes.
6. While they're still warm, slowly pour the 1 cup reserved horchata agua fresca on top so it soaks in.
7. Finish with the icing that comes in the can, and serve warm.
The horchata soaking into the warm rolls is chef's kiss 😘 sweet, cinnamon-y, and it makes the whole kitchen smell incredible. Let me know if you try this one!
