Nymphs are Hatching 🥚🕷 🪰
The Spotted Lantern Fly is back this year:
While we know that Tree of Heaven is their preferred host, this pest is known as an "invasive plant-hopper," meaning that it can commonly be found on a number of other species.
Particularly susceptible are young trees and shrubs, which generally do not have the ability to withstand an infestation the way that mature, healthy trees can.
So, what can you do?
⚫️ Keep an eye out for clustered egg masses and small black arthropods with white spots.
⚫️ Destroy ASAP at the earliest stage you detect them. Egg masses can be scraped off and submerged in alcohol, while fast-moving nymphs can be squished or vacuumed up.
