The lovely Rosa setigara (Prairie Rose) is blooming in pockets on my farm. It is so charming!

It is still a little early for blackberries but I found enough at my farm to eat several big handfuls. Unfortunately, I wasn’t dressed for it and had sprayed the bare minimum of off on me. I had so many ticks crawling on me that it was like a horror show. The clothes went straight into the wash and I went straight into the shower!

Well, we can’t walk under that trellis anymore 😝. We have made a path around it. I am so glad the pipevine swallowtails are enjoying the pipevine!

Good lord! I am trying to finish up watering and get out of here and the wind is on my last nerve. I am standing trees back up and trying to get water in them and this big guy scares the crap out of me! It was laying there with its nose in a puddle and I thought it might be dead. I grabbed a wand to use as a snake hook and nope!!! I have know for a while we had a big back snake up here but I haven’t seen it since last year. Glad to see it is still around but it gave my heart a test today!

My Hazelnuts are loaded this year! Hopefully I can beat the squirrels to them.

We got a good start at filling up our new space. We planted 1,394 plants this weekend! Not quite 2,000 but still respectable and as always we get waylaid by other small projects. We were also fighting overgrown seedlings that were fighting back and time consuming to pull apart.

Pipevine Swallowtails are masters at finding the baby plants! This one is trying to find the perfect plant to lay eggs on. We have to keep a sharp eye out and remove them because they will strip our little plants over night! Luckily I have a massive plant at home to transfer them to.
