Hi all! Thanks for the inquires and interest in us providing a Fence service! Please be patient with us as this is busy season and we also have limited resources as new company. Be cautious about who you hire, or to whom big box stores subcontract your fence installation, especially for 6-foot privacy fences. In the Rochelle area, there are many visibly deteriorating privacy fences that clients complain about, falling apart or waving boards within 2 years of installation. To ensure a sturdy fence, fence post holes should be 42 inches deep with ~3 bags of cement and gravel at the bottom for drainage. One bag of cement and 30 inches of depth are insufficient to withstand the harsh Midwest weather, including wind, rain, snow, and frost line heaving. A good rule of thumb:
1) have 1/3 to 1/2 of the fence post below ground,
2) with gravel/pea rocks for drainage and enough cement to withstand the elements.
3) Belling out the bottom of the post holes also helps prevent heaving and improves drainage.
