Poached Restaurant is an update to an existing restaurant to attract a wider and younger crowd. The project involved covering existing elements such as the tables and bar with wood "caps" to offer a simple yet impactful upgrade. The wall covering called for a design to project a sense of the space to pair with the new branding. Icons were developed based on their menu offerings and positioned and sized to mimic a poached egg running down the wall. This was then re-paired with the new branding to develop the graphics for the new menu.

The concrete chair is a collaboration with a designer who was looking to have a chair fabricated and also learn the making process of the chair. The makeLab offered to build the chair with the designer allowing them to create their own work and future works with their new knowledge. “In the true spirit of construction, the simple form hides the methodical and messy engineering process. Made from concrete, rebar, and found steel bars.”

Horldt Writing Center (2019)
The Horldt Writing Center was created for Lawrence Technological University's humanities department. The design was based on making the room functional with a usable bookshelf, a custom engraved wall for the Horldt family, and a kitchen cabinet for group workshops. Due to budget restrictions, the design was altered to use only 5' x 5' plywood sheets friction fit together for easy assembly. Using the CNC to fabricate the pieces, the project was within budget while also assembled all in one day. The Horldt Writing Center is now organized and ran by faculty members that are a great resource for students to go the extra mile for their writing prompts.| Ickes
