Introducing, the 2022 garden, at least the start of it.

I know, it's early for zone 5 but I'm starting with Brassica's (cabbage(red & green), cauliflower, and broccoli). These are more cold hardy and when the time comes to put them in the ground, I can always cover them with a low tunnel if a severe cold front moves in to keep the heavy frost off. Worst case scenario, I just end up planting more later (who doesnt like starting seeds though?). Starting seeds is the equivalent of garden gambling, sometimes you go bust and some times you hit the jackpot with your timing and the weather.

Last year we planted this raspberry bush. It produced maybe 2 raspberries by the end of the season. This year, it produced a few bunches like this. Can't wait to see what next year's production will be!

Fruit plants take awhile to get their momentum. Be patient and plan ahead if you want fruits! And when you finally get them, enjoy the reward!

Last of the garlic has finally been pulled. We were a little late but most of it looks like it will be just fine! Time to hang it up for a few weeks to dry and then we can put it away, at least until we plant some more this fall for next year!

The circus has the bearded lady, we have the bearded hens.

This chick is Maggie. When she isn't busy growing to one day produce us fun blue eggs, she likes to fluff her beard, practice her chicken Santa impersonation, drink some bourbon, where flannel, chop wood, and any other bearded stereotype you can think of.

Along with Maggie, we also have Tabitha and Malibu Stacy in the bearded hens department. These three ladies are our Easter Eggers and will lay fun blue/green colored eggs when they come to age in 2-3 months.

Amish hardneck garlic has been pulled. Probably could have waited a little longer but some of the stalks were pretty dried up and I would rather have smaller bulbs than mushy unusable bulbs.

The German hardneck stalks are still pretty green and can continue their slumber. There are even more of those!
