This video might be a joke, but we take site visits and construction administration seriously! Taking photos then helps us generate field reports, which allow for a record of what has been completed on the project, what’s next, work conditions, and more.

Let's address another architecture myth

ARCHITECTS only design buildings

This is way off.

REALITY:
Architecture overlaps with urban planning, interiors, sustainability, even psychology.

Let's take a look at our Memory Care Addition in Geneseo as an example. At a memory care facility, the end user determines many of the final materials.

carpet - mostly a single color - dark colors can be perceived as a hole
calming colors - wall paint is often neutral to promote more peace of mind
railings - essential for residents who walk through the building

With an architects' expertise, the end user's needs can be factored into the final design, and curated specifically to best serve them.

At 1919 Architects, we're all the "somehow!"

Every team member plays a role to get your project done successfully and on time - from the principal, to the drafter, to the project manager, to the social media manager showing pretty project updates! We are dedicated to turning your "somehow" into "done."

As we have many projects going on at once, we always return to this simple but important idea.

Our designs are tailored to the end user.

Be it an ADA accessible apartment, a memory care facility, a youth center, or even an office. Every project has different needs, and we have the expertise and experience that allows for not only aesthetically pleasing design, but can also meet the Owner's budget and be tailored to the end users.

Leading to LEED: What is it and how do I get it? - Since 1919 Podcast Episode 8

When we recorded this episode, we did not yet know that Hard Rock Rockford was moving forward with their hotel, which we will be providing LEED services for - so the timing could not have been more perfect!

So what exactly does it mean when a building is LEED certified, and how does it help me achieve my sustainability goals? Oh wow, it's that much work - can someone help me??? The answer is yes! Both Zach Enderle and Ron Billy, principals of 1919 Architects are LEED certified, and can help guide you this process. During this episode, Zach and Margaret detail the various steps for LEED certification, an overview of the LEED scorecard and how to score points, and what's possible for your project.
