4-H Exchange Club Prepares for April 27th Pork Dinner
Submitted by Alex Short, reporter
The 4-H Exchange Club met for its monthly meeting on April 6th. President Kaylea Short presided over the meeting. Preparation for the pork dinner was the main topic of discussion during the organizational portion. The pork dinner will be drive-thru style on Sunday, April 27th from 11am-1pm at the Farmer's Daughter at the Van Wert fairgrounds. Tickets are $10 and are still available for purchase from any member of York Commanders, Ohio City Blue Ribbon Workers, Udder Dairy Club, Exchange Club or by calling the extension office. Members were reminded the funds from the dinner go towards senior and camp scholarships.
Travel plans were also discussed for the club's trip to Missouri. The club will depart Van Wert on Sunday, June 15th and return on Saturday, June 21st, completing the exchange trip with Missouri. Different activities were sent from Missouri's 4-H advisor along with requests from each member on food they like to eat for meals.
The activity portion of the meeting concluded with walking the fairgrounds and checking the light display areas for any zip ties or fence posts left behind. The club does this to ensure the fairgrounds are left in the same condition as it was before the light show season and preparing the grounds for mowing season.
The club will meet next on April 26th for baking rolls and cookies for the pork
dinner. The next regular meeting will be May 4th at 1pm at the extension office.
