I received this email today. Very funny.

A tale of two men. Yesterday, a wallpaper guy stopped by to fix some minor issues in wallpaper he put up maybe 10 years ago in our upstairs bathroom.

While here, he also repaired a couple of strips of wallpaper in our dining room , wallpaper installed by someone else.

“What do we owe you?,” I asked. “Nothing. It’s part of your warranty which expires next week,” he said. He’s a skier, so automatically I like him and his sense of humor.

A few hours later we were in the office of a lawyer to begin a discussion about what happens to us, our house, our funds when we are no longer here or no longer fit to take care of ourselves. This first meeting began with him telling me there was no need to take notes. That he was a “teacher” and was going to assign us some”homework.”

He gave us a book he had written, designating which chapters we should read, and also encouraged us to watch a video of him on his website.

He was arrogant and condescending from start to finish. Who the hell does he think he is? A news editor?

We left there with a free ballpoint pen. I think that’s the last contact we will have with him. I’ll bet he’s not a skier. If he is, I hope he falls, hard, on his ass.
