I haven’t posted in a while. I've been dealing with a recent diagnosis of an autoimmune disease. After going through multiple symptoms over the years, I finally got the answer! I turn to God for healing and strength. 🙏

Although it wasn't a good season for growing tomatoes, I shared some with our neighbor. They raise chickens and always give my family the best eggs. I wanted to bless them back. 😊

Here’s a throwback harvest collage when I grew a lot of tomatoes! I miss canning tomato sauce. Unfortunately, the recent heatwave and excessive rain we had destroyed my plants. 😔

I got some tomatoes this summer but nothing like the previous years. I also kept the vegetable garden small because we’re planning on moving to another state. Stay tuned for my next post.

I’ve had Arabella clematis since 2019! 💜 I brought it from Idaho when my family moved to coastal North Carolina in 2020. We were on the road for two weeks, traveling across the country.

She’s been growing in a container. A few weeks ago, I thought she died in the vegetable garden from getting too much sun. I also neglected to water her. I was a bad plant mom. 🥹 She lost most of her foliage. The remaining leaves and vines were brown and crisp.

I decided to give it compost, organic fertilizer, and water—hoping for the best. She eventually came back to life! 👏

Here in the hot and humid South, this variety prefers shade on the porch by our front door. She’s happily blooming again. Plants can be resilient. If you’re looking for a tough clematis, get Arabella. Happy Flower Friday! 😊

The basil is prolific, and it’s not fully grown yet! 🌿 Last summer, my plants were compact but so tall and bushy. They didn’t flower until the fall season. 👍

I’ll always plant Everleaf Emerald Towers since it never seems to bolt every year! Seeds are from Botanical Interests. I highly recommend trying this variety for a productive plant all summer. When basil flowers, it can become bitter, slows down or even stop producing new leaves.

I dry basil and make a lot of pesto to preserve the harvest. 😋

I bought plants at Shelton Herb Farm for the first time. Everyone loved the cat, chickens, and pigs. 😂 We also went out for dinner and had Japanese food. It was a fun day!

The calabash long bottle gourd is called upo in the Philippines. 💚 It has a mild flavor similar to zucchini. Seeds are from Pan-Asia Heirloom on Etsy.

I made tinolang manok. It's a chicken soup with upo, garlic, onion, ginger, and baby chard from my garden. This Filipino dish is comfort food. Masarap! (Delicious) 😋

More homegrown tomatoes. ❤️ I’m so thankful because my tomato plants have a fungal disease. The heat and humidity are out of control, and we had a lot of rain that contributed to the problem!

I hope to keep harvesting tomatoes. Happy Tomato Tuesday! 🍅
