Most people see the cutting, but grinding is where everything gets fine-tuned. A good cut means less grinding, but there’s always a little shaping and adjusting before a piece is ready for foil.

This is one of the most satisfying parts of the stained glass process for me. There’s just something about the sound and watching larger pieces become exactly what I need them to be.

Every piece in this video is for a custom stained glass dog portrait I’m making as a personal gift for a family member.

Not every part of running a business happens inside the building.

A few days ago I started trimming the burning bushes outside the shop. Then the storms rolled in and put the project on hold for a day. This evening I was finally able to get back out there and finish it up.

It’s one of those jobs most people probably never think about, but keeping the outside looking neat and inviting is just as important as what’s waiting inside. A lot of behind-the-scenes work goes into maintaining a small business, and today this was my project. 🌿💙

The original version wasn’t quite capturing the look I was going for, so I decided to scrap it and take a different approach.

I also stepped outside my comfort zone and designed the pattern in Procreate, which was a first for me. Learning new software isn’t usually something I jump into, but it turned out to be a really helpful tool for making adjustments and fine-tuning the design.

It reminded me that sometimes progress means letting go of what isn’t working and giving yourself permission to try again.

Now the pattern is complete, the glass has been chosen, and I’m ready to move on to the cutting stage. 💙
