We deeply appreciate everyone who helps make Blessed to Bless Gardens possible. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to provide nourishing food to those who are often overlooked or receive whatever is left behind. It is a privilege to share our harvest and give "the first fruits" to these individuals, reminding us of the true purpose behind our efforts.

For example, the lettuce shown in these photos was picked around 9:30 AM on Saturday, delivered to Westminster Presbyterian on Shorter Ave shortly after 10 AM, and prepared for lunch by the amazing, selfless volunteers with Bus Fare.

Moments like these are shared to honor God and highlight the meaningful impact you make through your support.

The tomatoes have been planted in the ground, marking an important step in this season’s garden. Our sowing schedule got a little wacky, as we started the seeds indoors two to three weeks ahead of time. As a result, we had to transplant them into the garden much earlier than anticipated. Now, we’re hoping that the last frost has truly passed, so the young plants can thrive without risk of cold damage.

For planting, we used a three-inch auger bit attached to a drill to bore holes slightly over a foot deep (work smarter, not harder). Each planting hole was amended with organic materials to encourage early root development. These amendments will also support flower and fruit formation later in the season, helping to prevent blossom end rot and other common tomato diseases.

Organic Commitment for Healthy Produce

Blessed to Bless Gardens remains dedicated to using only organic products, ensuring that our produce is beautiful, healthy, and flavorful without the use of chemicals. The results are evident: just look at our vibrant lettuce, a testament to the benefits of organic gardening practices.

Protecting Our Blueberry and Strawberry Plants

Observing the Plants After the Frost

In the coming days, we will monitor our blueberry and strawberry plants to see how they fare following the recent frost. Our hope is that the steps we took will help them withstand the cold conditions.

Natural Assistance from the rain.

Fortunately, we received a timely rain, which served to insulate the plants just before the frost arrived. We are grateful to God for this natural help, as it provided an extra layer of protection against the cold.

Our Protective Measures

In addition to the rain, we made sure to cover the blueberry and strawberry plants. By doing everything we could to shield them from the frost, we aimed to give them the best chance to survive and thrive as the weather improves.

Available Fresh Produce

Our Current Harvest

At this time, our garden is offering a selection of fresh, flavorful produce. We have an abundant supply of beautiful kale, as well as smaller quantities of chives, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and a limited amount of spinach. Each item is grown with care and attention to quality.

Quality and Growing Practices

Our produce is not only tasty and nutritious, but it is also entirely chemical-free. We are committed to natural growing methods and do not use any chemicals in our gardening process. In fact, we consume the same fruits of our labor, as we prefer to avoid ingesting chemicals with our meals.

Contact Information

If you are interested in purchasing any of our available produce, please give us a call. We look forward to sharing our fresh and healthy harvest with you.

If you see a spotted lanternfly in Georgia, kill it immediately by stomping or squashing it, then report the sighting to the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Take a clear photo for identification, check for nearby egg masses (which should be scraped off and destroyed), and check your vehicle for hitchhikers.

Key Actions to Take:
Kill It: Immediately squash or stomp on the insect to prevent it from spreading.
Report It: Take a photo and report the sighting to the Georgia Invasives website.
Destroy Egg Masses: If found (especially in winter), scrape egg masses off trees, fences, or stone, and place them in a bag with alcohol to destroy them.
Inspect Property: Check your vehicle, outdoor furniture, and firewood for insects or eggs, particularly if traveling from infested areas.
Target Host Plants: Remove the "Tree of Heaven" (their preferred host) from your property if possible.
