Scam Alert: Fraudulent Lockout Stickers
Someone is placing suspicious locksmith stickers on doors. These nationwide scams are meant to trick residents into calling fake service providers.
Landlords may post the stickers in case you get locked out and need to call for help. Scammers replace legitimate stickers with their own. When called, they pose as locksmiths and may make copies of keys that could later be used in burglaries.
These stickers are often crooked, peeling, or placed over other stickers, and only display a phone number (no business name or license). The verbiage is generic, terms like “24/7 Locksmith.” They typically don’t have a verifiable online presence.

Protect yourself:
• Use a locksmith you trust
• Remove suspicious stickers if safe
• Report concerns to local police
Always verify before handing your keys or money to someone you don't know.

We bought a house with a working but badly scratched rear door touch electronic lock. I can’t imagine what caused this, maybe a really hard freeze? I doubt regular plastic scratch remover will work on this, maybe try a fine grit sand paper first? like 240? Will sanding the plastic ruin its touch ability?
