American Design & Build, LLC

American Design & Build, LLC Design/Build –We use a turnkey process, meaning we are singly responsible for the entire project. One contact person, one source of information.

Communication is all in-house so we won’t miss important details. While we are rarely the least expensive alternative, design/build brings on average 20-25% savings over traditional bid methods because there are no ‘back to the drawing board’ design discussions. With in-house interior design coordination as part of our process, we guide you through the decision making process from concept to final

installation. This is critical in your comprehensive design/build package. Design/build removes the tension and uncertainty of price and budget by establishing the investment range at the very beginning. No big re-designs because of lack of communication between the architect or designer and the builder!

There are many options out there - poly wood, wood ties, but have you considered Gabion baskets? Pictures in the comments.

Always, ALWAYS check deliveries immediately-open the box, make sure.it’s what you ordered. This is both a claim and a shame. The delivery guys knew it would be in storage for a while and put the damage against a wall, thinking no one would notice.

‘Mama’s house’ after. I need to find the final exterior paint (garage door was replaced) but his is a cross section of how we transformed a house and made a home for a family.

Clearly ‘before’ pictures. This one was a total gut for so many reasons-neglect of maintenance, ‘chuck in a truck’ type guys making bad situations worse. This was a few years back, but the finished’after’ nearly doubled the appraised value. Can’t imagine what it is now!

I cannot emphasize how important a licensed, reputable company is. And I don’t mean a business license.

Meet ‘Mama’s house’.

Another bathroom, another wonderful client. Shower was 3’ 9” wide. Now it’s actually usable.

Every other bidder told them the window couldn’t be changed. Think outside the box, give the client a ‘yes’ rather than ‘no’. You never know what will work if you don’t try.

Remember the ‘beat the babies home’ secondary bath? Here’s the Master. It was completed by someone else who didn’t do it correctly. When the leaks started, this sweet family called us back to do what they’d envisioned in the first place.

A shower built for more than one; easy to clean with quartz curbs, bench, and niche bottoms. Functional and stylish. Perfect.

Before pictures in the comments.

‘Haint’ blue. What is it? What does it do?

For us southerners, blue porch ceilings are fairly standard. They feel ‘cooler’ despite the heat; they give a nod to our rich history, and most certainly, they keep the evil spirits (aka ‘haunts’ and Boohag) away.

What you might not know is that they also keep birds, spiders, and other creepy crawlers from using your porch as a home. They see the ceiling as open sky, and therefore not a good spot to nest.

In the past 11 years we’ve had them on our personal home, we’ve only had nests where there’s a ‘double blind’ and it’s too dark to see the blue. We keep a pot of lemongrass below to catch the poo, and enjoy our one little nest per year. And the picture above? Has not been dusted or cleaned in any way in a year. No cobwebs, no spiders.

History for the win.

Catching up on pictures and old post ‘before’ projects...

This will always be a personal favorite project. Not only for the work, but for the dreamer who believed in the vision.

Friends, the ‘Why Would You’ house is now called ‘Home’.
