Realizing there’s a story here while painting this window bench… apparently the family dog would use this as his “lookout” spot. Last time it was painted, a slow-drying oil paint was used… so hours later when he jumped up here, the paint was soft and he left his tiny little paw prints! We repaired it with glazing putty, primed, and painted… to freshen it up for the next family’s story!

When re-caulking garage door trim, often times we remove ALL of the old caulk first, since it’s no longer adhering to both the wood and the masonry. By removing it first, that allows us to properly fill the gap before painting, which will prevent cracking & further separation, as well as creating a water-tight seam. Don’t skip the prep!

The scaffolding doesn’t just appear out of nowhere…. In fact, most of the time that it takes to use our 3-tier rolling scaffold, is in the transportation and assembly of it. We make quick work of the hard to reach areas once it’s all together, but as you can see it takes up a lot of room in the van! Sometimes it even requires a special trip to transport back and forth from our shop. It’s one tool that we can’t live without though! After 3 different “repairs”, this client was still experiencing cracks on their ceiling. This is what it looked like after just digging out all of the previous repairs, removing soft spackling products(that aren’t meant for this!), and exposing the entire void to be filled. Oh, and NONE of the repairs had been done using any sort of reinforcing drywall tape… so I’m not surprised that it kept cracking!

This is one of my favorite parts of building relationships in our industry… the ability to tell our clients whether they’re moving away, already live out of the area, or have additional residences;

“If you need a painter anywhere in the county, please reach out… there’s a good chance I can recommend another professional.”

And not that I’ve never received a cross-country referral before(looking at you Mike Chavez 😉), but I’d hope to give 100 more before receiving another one.
