It's Tomato Tuesday! Each week between now and harvest, we'll be introducing one of the *new* varieties of tomatoes that we'll be offering this season. This week we're taking a look at the Evil Olive tomato. Besides being gorgeous to look at, Evil Olive is insanely productive and exceptionally long-lasting. The thick skin makes it an excellent winter keeper, easily outlasting all other tomatoes. It's a crunchy, plum-sized, tomatillo-type green tomato that's amazing in salsas and salsa verde. Look for it and another two dozen new varieties of 'maters at our roadside stand this summer. All in all, we'll have over SIXTY different heirloom tomatoes available and we're equally excited for them all.

We're back from vacation and, as predicted, we came home to an abundance of ripe tomatoes! Who wants some?!

This week's tasting boxes will come with one of my favorite recipes: herbed goat cheese and heirloom tomato tarts. The tarts make a great, light side dish or, served with a little arugula, an elevated salad course. They're perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner!

Just a reminder: there will be no boxes next week as we'll be out of town, but we'll return, ready to pick bushels of 'maters for you on the 21st! Lord willing and if the creek don't rise, we estimate having double the number of boxes available starting on the 22nd.
