This week take the time to shop the closet. Hanging on to items we might wear “someday” prevents them from being cherished today. Clothes don’t keep forever. Elastic and thread rot, fashion changes, our lives and needs change. Donating clothing allows others the gift of nice clothing at a price that is affordable and prevents waste. Ideally there will be 2 finger width of space between hangers to allow clothes to breathe and the wearer to actually see what hangs in the closet.

This week/weekend is a great time to go through panty items and remove out of date or nearly out of date foods.
I usually take the just past or almost past items and plan the menu around those to avoid waste of food and money.
Not a huge difference, but knowing my inventory really helps me plan meals.

The dawn of the new year. This is the moment you get to choose what you will be taking into the new year and what you will leave behind.

Each year I like to start with food. Why? Things expire, taste changes, I am ready to start healthy eating goals, and mostly I am wanting to spend as little in possible after ending the year with 5 birthdays in November followed by Christmas.

This week will be small 5-10 min resets and declutteringing of food items. Let’s start with eating or tossing items from the fridge that are going bad or will go bad soon. And those sauce items that we say we are going to use… those get used this month or out they go. We are focusing on the good stuff this year.

Happy New Year.

If you have a DOOM room (Didn’t Organize Only Moved) let me help you get it together before the Holidays get here! I am a functional organizer, meaning I take into consideration how you live and operate on a daily basis and what will work best for you rather than just what looks good. Don’t get me wrong, I can do fancy, but only if it is something you really want to maintain. I also sell gift certificates for holidays or special occasions if you want to help someone else lighten their load.

Good advice.

Update on the bathroom break from the Garage. We still have some paining touch up to do, but that can wait until we make more garage progress. Declutter tip of the week. If you have been saving items for future projects, get those projects a space on your calendar or let them go. Dreaming is not the same as doing and your space is your peace!

Garage Update:
We have removed cardboard trash and donation/ sale items from the garage and are on to Phase 2 which is grouping and zoning items.

There will most likely be more toss, donate or sell items in this part of the process, because this is where we really get to see the inventory of what has been accumulated. Often when we can’t locate something, we end up buying more. So as we zone, things will be given homes to ensure they can be found when needed.

We are also using temporary organizational tools that we found on site. I never want to rush into buying new organization until we know what we are organizing, where the items will officially be stored, and what resources we already have.

Welcome Month of May! This month is the perfect month for organizing the garage. The temperature outside has was warmed up some, but not yet to the point of heat exhaustion.

Garages can be overwhelming because they become catch alls of life. Having an organizer specialist, like me😁helps get things under control. For “fun” I thought I might share the process of this garage throughout the month.

The ultimate goal for this garage is to be able to create wood projects and find the tools easily. We are not striving for costly upgrades or Pinterest Pretty, just functional.

Phase 1 is to remove all trash, recycling, and donations.

Organization is a gift that saves time, money, and peace of mind!
