During our rainy season, it's very important to stay weather aware because of flash flooding in low lying areas, rivers, and creeks. There are many safe places on high ground for our visitors to temporarily wait out the weather when it rains. Visitors can also sign up for alerts at callmeruidoso.com.

Ruidoso’s flash flooding has made the news and been shared thousands of times on social media, but a short video doesn’t tell the whole story! ⬇️

Ruidoso is SAFE. 👍 Flooding comes and goes quickly and is localized to the same places - certain low lying areas and creek beds. To get information about weather warnings and temporary road closures:
1) Sign up for alerts with callmeruidoso.com
2) Check real-time road info at ruidoso-nm.gov
3) Follow the Village of Ruidoso social media accounts

The great news is, when it rains in the mountains, it’s still as refreshing as you remember! You may just have to stay put for 30 minutes while the flash flooding recedes. Luckily we have great restaurants and shops to help you pass the time while you wait.
