🧊 Why put ice in concrete?
It’s not to keep workers cool—it’s to keep the concrete cool. When cement mixes with water, it generates heat. In hot weather or large pours, excess heat can cause the concrete to set too fast and develop cracks.
By replacing some of the mixing water with ice, crews lower the concrete temperature, improve workability, and reduce the risk of thermal cracking. A simple trick that helps create stronger, longer-lasting structures.
