If you’ve ever walked through Herald Square, you’ve seen it: the giant Macy’s shopping bag towering over 34th Street. For more than 60 years, it was a NYC icon, a landmark, a photo backdrop and part of the experience of being in that corner of New York.
But now…it’s gone.
Macy’s recently removed the four-story red-and-white shopping bag as part of a modernization project. And it got us thinking about office design. When you’re redesigning a workplace, how do you modernize without designing out the personality that made the space - and your brand - memorable in the first place?
