Michigan winters are full of surprises. Within the past week we have seen snow, negative temperatures and temperatures soaring to a whopping 45 degrees just a few days later. This morning brings another "snow" day with nearly an inch of freezing rain/sleet mix. With all the salt that is being dropped on our roads, driveways and sidewalks we should think about how our landscape is effected. Read this article to learn more...

Across the country, more than 22 million tons of road salt is used every year. In Massachusetts, the Department of Transportation (MassDOT) recommends one or more applications of salt at 240 lbs per lane mile after every snow fall to ensure the safety of those using the roadways.
