💜✂️ Enjoying those lilac blooms? Start thinking about pruning now for more blooms next year!

The best time to prune lilacs is immediately after they finish blooming. Like many spring-flowering shrubs, lilacs begin developing next year's flower buds shortly after this year's blooms fade. Waiting too long to prune can mean accidentally removing next year's flowers.

A simple deadheading is all that's needed. Using hand pruners, remove spent flower heads down to the next pair of leaves (or further back for more shaping.) Taking off those old blooms helps the plant put its energy into developing strong buds for next spring's show and you can enjoy the fresh scent of lilacs from a vase indoors! 🌸✨

🌿💙 We've been getting all kinds of hydrangea questions lately, so we thought it was the perfect time to bring back this blog post from last season!

Hydrangeas are one of the most popular flowering shrubs we carry, but they're also one of the most misunderstood. From pruning and winter protection to bloom color and planting location, there's a lot to know about these beautiful garden favorites 🌸✨

Check out the blog post and maybe learn something new about hydrangeas before your next gardening project! - link in bio

What to Know for Beautiful Blooms Hydrangeas are beloved for their show-stopping blooms, rich textures, and seasonal color changes. But caring for them successfully requires a bit of strategy — especially when it comes to pruning and placement. Here’s a detailed guide to the three main hydrangea...

🌵✨ Succulent Care 101: Leave them alone. 😄

Seriously! Succulents get a bad rap from first-time plant parents who were told they were easy to care for... only to watch them slowly decline anyway. The culprit is often the opposite of what people expect: too much care.
Succulents are built to handle drought and actually prefer a little neglect. The biggest mistake we see is watering too often. 💧🚫

Here are our top watering tips:
🌵 Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. A moisture meter works great, or try the chopstick trick—if it comes out clean and dry, it's time.
🌵 Watch for signs of thirst. Wrinkled, puckered, or slightly soft leaves are your succulent's way of asking for a drink.
🌵 When you do water, water thoroughly. Use the "soak and dry" method by drenching the soil until water runs from the drainage holes, then let it dry out completely before watering again.

In the meantime, if you're itching to do *something* for your succulents, give them a little TLC instead 🪴✨ Cleaning succulents helps keep them healthy and pest-free. Remove any dead, crispy leaves from the base of the plant and use a soft brush to gently dust the foliage. For a deeper clean, you can spray away trapped debris with water or compressed air. Just be careful not to rub off the powdery protective coating (called *farina*) that some succulents have on their leaves—it helps protect the plant from sun and moisture loss.

Remember: most succulents would rather be forgotten for a week than fussed over every day 😉💚

🌸✨ Make way for this show-stopping, shade-loving classic: Fuchsia! ✨🌸

With their elegant, dangling blooms and vibrant colors, fuchsias have been turning heads in gardens and hanging baskets for generations 💚

To keep them looking their best, give them bright shade or gentle morning sun and protect them from harsh afternoon rays. Fuchsias love consistently moist soil and may need frequent watering during the heat of summer—especially in hanging baskets. Just be sure they aren’t sitting in soggy soil.

Want even more blooms? Regularly remove spent flowers and seed pods, and don’t be afraid to give them an occasional “pinch” to encourage fuller, bushier growth. A little maintenance goes a long way with these beauties! 🌿

If you’re looking for a plant that brings big color to shady spaces, fuchsias are hard to beat 😍
