🌵✨ Succulent Care 101: Leave them alone. 😄
Seriously! Succulents get a bad rap from first-time plant parents who were told they were easy to care for... only to watch them slowly decline anyway. The culprit is often the opposite of what people expect: too much care.
Succulents are built to handle drought and actually prefer a little neglect. The biggest mistake we see is watering too often. 💧🚫
Here are our top watering tips:
🌵 Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. A moisture meter works great, or try the chopstick trick—if it comes out clean and dry, it's time.
🌵 Watch for signs of thirst. Wrinkled, puckered, or slightly soft leaves are your succulent's way of asking for a drink.
🌵 When you do water, water thoroughly. Use the "soak and dry" method by drenching the soil until water runs from the drainage holes, then let it dry out completely before watering again.
In the meantime, if you're itching to do *something* for your succulents, give them a little TLC instead 🪴✨ Cleaning succulents helps keep them healthy and pest-free. Remove any dead, crispy leaves from the base of the plant and use a soft brush to gently dust the foliage. For a deeper clean, you can spray away trapped debris with water or compressed air. Just be careful not to rub off the powdery protective coating (called *farina*) that some succulents have on their leaves—it helps protect the plant from sun and moisture loss.
Remember: most succulents would rather be forgotten for a week than fussed over every day 😉💚
