So blessed on a foraging adventure with two girlfriends. I work full time so any time I can escape to the words and nature just rejuvenates my soul.
Wild ramp pesto was a successful and delicious dinner.

- Ramps (wild onion, the whole onion including greens)
- lemon zest and 1 lemon
- high quality olive oil
- sea salt
- blend until creamy.

When you’re ready to eat, add in your pine nuts and some fresh Parmesan flakes and if you like a little spice, some chili pepper.

PEOPLE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT CHICKENS SHOULD NOT BE MAKING LAWS THAT EFFECT THE MASS MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEM!
Ok now that I have your attention. It has come to my attention that towns/ city’s councils boards are making laws and banning roosters. Now it they pass because the majority of people want it passed is one thing but some boards are just passing them. 🤯🤯 not ok.

I choose on my farm not to keep roosters for many reasons. But I completely understand why others want them.
They need them to be self sufficient in breeding and raising their own food!! Their own chicks for replacement to their birds.
I do not know of anyone who is going to keep an aggressive rooster. They are not any louder than a hen. I actually find them to be quieter.
It’s bull s**t our elected officials are banning thing like this so people can not raise their own food.
People if you do not like being in Vermont where we live a different type of life then most then please do not move here. We hunt, fish, we have farm animals and we enjoy those things more then most like people.
Here in VT we have always lived with the moto of live and let live. You do you and I’ll do me. I do not give a s**t what others do just be a good person. And being able to supply food for your family in any way falls under that.
So if your town has made laws against you being able to grow your own food then you need to stand up and fix that.
As of now there’s a few city’s that have passed such laws Burlington south Burlington. And st Albans is in the process.
Nothing like taking control over people’s ability to provide food for themselves. It’s just not right.
Like everything else please have adult conversations!!

Roosters are crucial for sustaining chicken flock, predator protection and our way of life. Stop the ban. Roosters are not the problem.

I’m so glad I took the time to make tea for the winter.
It took quite sometime to pick everything, dry, and make into loose leaf tea, but in knowing there could be one day of feeling under the weather - I’m glad I have it when I want it.
There is always great satisfaction of eating, drinking, using, a product you made with your hands.
No better day to be thinking about the next garden, and bringing the yard to life.
