This bathroom was designed for a tremendous couple who wanted a space that balanced beauty, comfort, and long-term accessibility. The result is a serene, monochromatic retreat with thoughtful details that support both style and function.
Accessibility guided many of the design decisions. We widened the toilet room and specified a 36” door for potential wheelchair access. The built-in flexibility allows for furniture to be moved as circumstances change. Grab bars were planned with proper blocking, and a comfort-height toilet provides ease without compromising style.
We worked with the home’s existing vanities, updating the surrounding materials and finishes to unify the space while preserving functionality and character.
Particular care was given to the shower, ensuring it felt both inviting and intuitive to use. A curb-less entry features a gentle slope to a linear drain, creating a seamless flow from the main floor. The shower control is positioned at the entry, allowing the water to be turned on without stepping in. A transom window brings in natural light, while a lowered ceiling adds warmth and intimacy. The pony wall was adjusted for a more open feel, and a hidden niche keeps clutter out of sight but within easy reach.
It was a pleasure to work with this couple to create a space that blends elegance with everyday practicality. Their vision and trust made it possible to shape a bathroom that meets their current needs, gracefully adapts to the future, and pleases the eye from every perspective.
