OWL 🦉 UPDATE: they are alive and well! we often see them perched on the clothes line, swing set, or Elm tree.

They scurried out of their makeshift nest one night when they got brave, but were too young to fly. The Raptor Center said to play screech owl noises and see if the mother was close by. If she wasn't they most likely didn't make it and that the parents would leave forever too. She flew right next to us when we played it. Whew!

Now, we see them all often! We'll chalk that up as a success story 🦉

Look in the comments to see the mama owl that came right to the calling.

Hunting time for mom/supper time for the babies. She brings birds and mice in there all night long! The volunteers from the Raptor Center explained that the mother typically doesn't stay in the nest, just stays close by and visits frequently to feed and keep the prey away. Our cameras were going off every 20 minutes or so until 5:30 this morning. I'll show an unwelcome visitor in the comments.

Well, we had another new experience at O.T.S

While taking down a dead maple tree on our own property, we discovered a family of screech owls. The mother took off and one appeared to be injured. We contacted the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota and they told us exactly what to do.

They had us put up the portion of the nest and move the healthy babies there to see if the mother would return within 24 hours. They then arranged for volunteers to get the injured owlette. Then they informed us they are going to take him, treat him, and release them back here if the mother returns.

🦉🦉 LOOK IN THE COMMENTS TO SEE IF THE MOM RETURNED 🦉🦉

Stay tuned for updates of the screech owl adventure...
