It’s cold in NE Florida! It’s snowing in some parts of the state ❄️❄️❄️ Do you cover your plants when it gets cold? If it’s going to go below 40 degrees Fahrenheit you should either cover or bring plants in if you can! I brought in my “rare” tropical plants and covered the rest!

It’s almost spring! My plants are showing out ALREADY. The leaf pictured is from my Monstera Albo mother plant. I did a propagation on this plant recently and cut her down to her OG leaf to see what would happen. Since then she’s kicked out 5 new (GORGEOUS) leaves (comment if you want to see them!) and now her 6th leaf has its first fenestration!

Found this Philodendron Tortum at Walmart today and it was less than appealing.

I almost walked away from it but then I decided “oh what the hell” and it came home with me.

On August 26th I propagated my Monstera Albo - today I successfully transferred all four original cuts to soil. They’d all grown nice and juicy roots and one is already pushing a new leaf while the other three all have active growth points!

I should have taken a before photo!

This is a birds nest fern that came to the houseplant hospital roughly two weeks ago.

When this babe arrived she had a lot of brown and crispy leaves and most of her leaves had dark spots.

We did an assessment of the soil and found that the soil was probably holding too much moisture so we swapped out with our Aroid mix (potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark).

This chunky mix allows the water to move through the pot and doesn’t allow the soil to retain too much moisture, but just the right amount.

We also found a few spiders 🕷️ so we removed them and cleaned up any webbing. Treated with Captain Jacks dead bug as a precaution and then gave her a thorough water and some time outside.

She looks amazing and is heading back home tomorrow!
