I often wonder do plants tell each other stories of times past. Ancient stories about their ancestors who ruled the Earth. Stories that have blended into the realm of myth. From times before farming and long before gardening. Before the mass genocide of their tree elders. Times before the big machines, when plants still had vast territories and communities. When the dominant sounds of the world were bird song and buzzing.
Do plants from foreign lands recount tales of unseen creatures, large and small unimaginable beasts and their unusual and interwoven connections.
Do they tell stories to their offspring, about the slow forgetting of the humans. Of who they used to be. Do they tell their young seedlings that all will be well, not to worry. That humans are bound to remember who they are at any moment now.
So sleep well little ones. Hold your stories close. There’s hope in them somewhere. ❤️🌎🌿
