We are pleased to announce the 24th International Pepper Conference will be held November 4-6, 2018 in Fort Myers, Florida.
This international conference provides numerous opportunities for participants to share up-to-date information and research, and to discuss common concerns with colleagues from around the world. This exchange of information is vital to the continued improvement and international advancement of peppers and we invite you to join us.
Conference Purpose
The purpose of the conference is to bring together those with an interest in the status of pepper research, extension and technology.
Who Should Attend?
The International Pepper Conference attracts prominent scientists, researchers, breeders, horticulturists, pathologists, entomologists, geneticists, physiologists, virologists, extension agents, seed and chemical company representatives, major processors, growers, students and chile aficionados from around the world and is now recognized as the premier venue for the dissemination and exchange of information on Capsicum.
Of special interest will be our breakout session focused on Pepper Weevil – Biology, Ecology and Management. As you may know the pepper weevil (PW) Anthonomus eugenii is the key pest of any and all pepper varieties in the southern US, Mexico, Central America and much of the Caribbean. With origins in Mexico, pepper weevil continues to increase its range, in the northeastern US, as well as Canada where it is now a perennial greenhouse pest, and has recently been found in Holland and Italy and is notoriously difficult to control with insecticides.
