To decant? Or not to decant? That is the is the Question.
I know what you’re thinking. “Hey Dad. I can’t see too good. Is that Bill Shakespeare over there?”
For real, do you really need to DECANT in order to fit the mold of an organized home? For the love of ~~~ no you do not! I think there is a purpose to DECANTING because it keeps flours, sugars, and baking mixes from spilling out of the original packaging and onto your shelfs and floors. Another perfectly good reason to DECANT is you love the way it looks and are willing to keep up the maintenance. I love the way it looks too, and that’s a good enough reason. But just remember that DECANTING truly is another home maintenance item to upkeep for a busy house. If you like the look of a tidy DECANTED pantry, but don't want to dedicate a whole lot of time for it's upkeep, consider keeping your items in the original packaging inside of a basket. It hides that noisy packaging, and helps you keep things categorized and tidy so you can better have an eye on the items in your pantry. Organizing is not a one size fits all, and perfection should never be the goal. Do what feels right for your house.
I decant my pantry as you see here because I like to see inside of containers to know if I need to buy more of something. By buying in bulk on these items we use daily, I save a lot of trips to the store and I know when I need to add it to my weekly grocery shopping list. By limiting my trips to the store, the less “impulse” items I purchase and henceforth the tidier our pantry stays.
LABELING? I do LABEL as a guide to let us all know where things belong on the shelf. I keep the labels in GENERAL categories and only LABEL each shelf and I also LABEL my baking items. No need to go too deep and LABEL every single container; it just gets too specific in most cases!!
