Build Info!
A lot of clients ask us the size dimensions of our build and the process to help visualize their own. So I wanted to help in case you were considering a build yourself!
Our full build is 15ft wide, 9ft 3in tall. The center fireplace section is 7ft wide and our tv is 75in. (Note, a 75in tv is approx 65.4in wide). The ”size” of your tv, so ours being 75, is the diagonal measurement from corner to corner. Our fireplace insert is a 60in insert. The shelving units are what we call “enclosed bookcases” - (a bit more $$$ and time consuming then standard floating shelves and they are each 4ft wide)
We recessed our TV into our build. I only recommend doing this if you KNOW you will never want to change the size of your tv. If you don’t KNOW for sure - we
Will install with a standard tv mount or you can purchase a speciality mount and we will install that for you!
The biggest change to get used to is that your TV will most likely move quite a bit higher from where you currently have it. Once you add in a fireplace, a mantle, and enough space to decorate it, it shifts up quite a bit. We can of course put your fireplace and mantle and tv wherever you want it, and you can totally eliminate the mantle too but I always like
To remind our clients of the new TV location.
We use CAD for our designs, so you will be able
To get a good visual of the build with your measurements prior to us starting.
A build such as ours would be scheduled out approx a week in our shop to pre-build and paint as much as possible, and 5-7 days in your home. A LOT goes on behind the scenes and currently it’s just me and
Josh. And to be honest - Josh will be doing 95% of your build and I’m usually at your home running around grabbing tools, prepping, and cleaning up behind him 🙃 his attention to detail is unmatched and he will not rush to get your project done as every cut and placement is strategically thought out. These builds to us are meant to be not only aesthetically beautiful but also functional and will last a lifetime.
Before you reach out for a build, here are the things we challenge you to think about.
What are the NEEDS of the build for YOUR family?
- Do you what cabinetry to have additional storage? If so, do you want classic shaker style, do you want them to perfectly match your kitchen? What color do you want? Do we need to custom build them such as our floating ones with the cane insert? So many options 🙂
- How many shelves do you want? Do you like floating shelves, brackets, or enclosed bookcases?
- What material do you like? Shiplap, board and batten, wainscoting, drywall, textured, tile, brick..A mix? Tile, brick etc will raise cost as they take longer and require Morter, grout etc.
- What kind of cable boxes do you have? Do they need direct line of site? Do you have Audio or subwoofers that you need us to incorporate etc?
If you literally have no idea - I’m here to help! I also recommend looking on pinterst for inspiration! It also helps if you let us know a budget you are trying to stay within. A standard shiplap fireplace with no side units starts around $4500. That includes everything except your fireplace Insert. These builds are an investment into your home and I’ve read built in electric fireplaces (when done right) can raise your home value up to 12%. Realtors, feel free to chime in.
Ok if you read all of that, you the real mvp!
Hope this helps! What questions do you have?
