Roll-on v***r barrier > 6 mil plastic. Here’s why it matters for your floors and your health:

When you’re installing LVP, hardwood, or tile over concrete, moisture is the silent killer of floors. A lot of crews still throw down 6 mil poly and call it good. We don’t.
Here’s the difference:

•  Seamless protection — Roll-on products like PU-280 form a continuous film with zero seams. Plastic sheeting has joints, overlaps, and edges that can fail over time.
•  Bonds to the slab — It adheres directly to the concrete instead of just sitting on top. No shifting, no tenting, no places for moisture to sneak through.
•  Fills cracks & imperfections — PU-280 seals minor cracks and surface irregularities as it goes down. Plastic just covers them.
•  Tougher underfoot — Far less chance of punctures during installation or from future foot traffic and furniture.
•  Better long-term performance — You’re not relying on tape and careful overlapping to keep moisture out for the life of the floor.

The health side most people don’t talk about:

6 mil plastic can trap residual moisture or v***r against the slab. That creates a dark, damp pocket where mold and mildew love to grow — right under your flooring. Once it’s there, it can affect indoor air quality and is a nightmare to fix. A properly applied roll-on barrier bonds tight and stays seamless, drastically reducing the chance of those hidden moisture pockets forming in the first place.
