Big things are taking shape at Felix Street Square. Our team and the construction team is on-site today pouring concrete for the new open-air stage at Coleman Hawkins Park and we couldn't be more excited about what this space is becoming.

The redesigned stage will be positioned in the southwest corner of the park, facing north, with the ground gently graded so guests can settle in and enjoy a show in comfort. The beloved brick wall near the old gazebo stays. The Coleman Hawkins statue stays relocated just west of the stage, still front and center where he belongs. Farmers market shades are moving to the east end, and not a single parking space is being lost.

This is community-centered design in action honoring what matters while creating something new. Completion is expected fall 2026. We can't wait to see this space come alive.

We are very excited about this project in the St. Joseph community.

We are very excited about this project in the St. Joseph community.

It's the end of a warm summer day. You have a cold drink in your hand as you sit in the shade next to some friends. Your favorite local band is about to start, and you hear children laughing at the other end of the park. Life is good in downtown St. Joseph.
Thank you, Goldberg Group Architects, for this great mock-up of what to expect next summer! The stage renovation at Coleman Hawkins Park at Felix Street Square is designed to better serve the community. The new open-air stage will be placed in the southwest corner of the park, facing north. The brick wall found just north of the old gazebo’s location will remain intact, and the stairs will continue to lead to the area. The ground between the brick wall and the stage will be graded to allow patrons to comfortably sit and view the stage. The Coleman Hawkins statue will be safely relocated to the west side of the stage, still in clear view for visitors, and the farmers market shades will be relocated to the east end of the park. No parking spaces will be removed as part of this renovation. This project is expected to be completed in fall of 2026.
