With three stems that have emerged, two are poised to unfurl their splendor this season. L. martagon var. carneum, aptly referred to as roseum Beck, a synonym that suits this exquisite, spotless beauty perfectly. ( At least in my interpretation) this was a precious gift from overseas. The bloom season, although 10 days behind other L. martagon species I've had the privilege to acquire, promises a delayed yet profound delight. Though last year it went to the martagon display, it will not as it’s in full bloom mode. I've learned that seed was collected in Romania, and scattered where the vibrant brilliance of this particular hue radiates resplendently in the wild. It's not as remarkably hairy in the buds right now, as it was.
As all L. martagon, I certainly am seeing many such variants. This particular var. is the most brilliant I have seen thus far.

With so many Lilium martagon hybrids and Species in bloom, I will be cutting several stems to take to this event next week hosted by North Star Lily Society and Misty Trails … it’s a great way to see all of the flowers under one rooftop … almost like a martagon show!!!
Hummmmmmm would that be a good idea to have a martagon show? Something maybe my local society needs to consider?
Would you come to a Martagon show? I know I would. It’s my favorite flowers !

I celebrated another year of life with immense gratitude, as it blossomed into a day filled with joy and heartfelt connections! The outpouring of love began unexpectedly with a flood of text messages, personalized photos, phone calls, and surprise visits. Each moment was a precious gift, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect! Adding to the magic, two of my cherished seedlings burst into bloom for the first time, painting a vibrant picture of lineage. I captured the moment in numerous photographs and carefully preserved the bloom in my herbarium, nurturing the energy for bulb growth and health. Now, as the seasons change, I’ll be watching anxiously to see if it will weather the winter of 2026-2027. I certainly would love to see these increase and re-bloom June 2027.
To the numerous individuals I’ve yet to meet, I’m deeply humbled by your kindness and thoughtfulness. Your warm wishes have touched my heart, and I’m filled with joy and appreciation. To all my FB friends, family, neighbors, I wish you boundless blessings, safety, and wellness as we navigate life’s journey together. Cheers!! — at Hartle-Gilman Gardens.

Lilium pumilum is an Asian species of bulbous plants native to Mongolia, Siberia, the Russian Far East (Amur Krai, Primorye, Khabarovsk), Korea and northern China. Though they are no taller than 18-20 inches and the bloom is a mear 1 inch wide,. This species does really well. Allowing every other season to bloom and set seeds keeps my colony alive and abundant with sweet lovely ‘Coral Lilies’ There are a few different variations of color but who can resist a lady in red! ♥️♥️♥️

The remarkable diversity of L. martagon species holds immense potential, featuring variations that range from fuzzy to yellows and whites, tall and short stature, and spotted or spotless blooms. Two notable species, L. martagon var. pilosiusculum and L. martagon var. purpurascens, a spotless variety, showcase this dynamic beauty, both blooming in synchrony. I had acquired these species through tissue culture several seasons ago, which has unlocked new possibilities for growth and exploration of species that I normally would never be able to grow let alone obtain and observe..

Always the first to bloom. 6–2-2026
Perhaps L. sachalinense, but will have to dig deep and take a peek at the bulb first . Some of these are hard to identify. The blooms opened simultaneously and each differ in the saturation of colour.
The umbel inflorescence is a type of flower cluster where multiple flower stalks (pedicels) radiate from a single, common point, resembling the ribs of an umbrella.
Whatever it is… I must have 100 photos from this day alone. 😉♥️ Happy June

Went out to the greenhouse to plant zinnias for fall food for migrating birds and bees and had a heartwarming surprise… may I please introduce another ‘YELLOW’.
This is the fourth seeding of my cross from long ago BSFM20-1 Lois Hole X Irish Cream, a testament to the power of resilience and growth due to living in a black plastic pot all of its life…
It’s fragrant like sister three, and extremely long in the culture container.
It’s has tight curls with its tepals, common for martagon hybrids.
It’s so amazing how each hybrid is unique and different, though it is not a breeding advancement per se, but, my eyes are shining.
now to load my camera, aim, focus and rapid fire… 🔥

I have been receiving many payments that have been arriving via snail mail for boxes that have been sent out three and four weeks ago.... Thank you for this type of payment, It makes my bookkeeping easier.

I have promised to move forward by sending out electronic payment methods once I have stopped receiving snail mail... This last week, delivery of sweet cards and notes with payments has ceased, which is my indicator to get to work on electronic e-payment invoices for those that have been been so kind to reach out and remind me to send an electronic invoice. You are all so sweet----

I love the honor system and above all, I want all of you to be happy with you selections and also double check my packing as I can make mistakes. Needless to say---- This is how the heavenly hybridizers did their shipping. Product first, Payment later-

So-----Electronic invoices will start going out over the weekend and into next week.

What a season of beauty that has unfolded, not only within this small community, but also in our own backyards and doorway gardens.

Some have asked what they can do for me---- I have just the perfect link for you 😊

This helps me learn and grow---- Thank you all for the Aire of Spring 2026. Love to all.

With the clock ticking, there will be a fun filled line up of more to come at the end of the Summer with new hybrids and the promise of new blooms. xoxox Rosie
