Who says you can't have flowers in April?! While everyone is busy arguing about soil temps and last frost dates, we're busy enjoying the spring blooms. What's the secret? Annuals!
Not all annuals are ready to be planted but pansies, violas and marigolds are a little more cold tolerant. They are still at risk if there's a hard frost so I will bring them inside overnight tonight. That's the beauty of pots! You can move them into a warm sunny spot during the day and on the last few cold nights, move them into a protected area.
The extended forecast calls for rain but warmer temps for the foreseeable future. If you wait until the 2nd week of May you're missing almost a month of our already short gardening season. Go take advantage of the discounts and add some life to your outdoor space. πͺ΄
