The Northern Lights Plant Sale is a community-wide celebration of spring in Highland—filled with beautiful, low-priced plants, free hands-on art, delicious food, and fun for all ages. We hope you’ll skip big box stores for plants this year and support public education instead!

Event Dates:
• May 8: Pre-Order Pickup and Friends and Family Sale | 2:00–5:00 PM
• May 9: Public Sale & Festival | 9:00 AM–3:00 PM

🌱 A Plant Lover’s Dream (without big crowds)
Come explore a lush selection of plants, including:
Minnesota native perennials
A wide variety of annuals and hanging baskets bursting with color
Vegetable starts and herbs for your garden
We’ll also have many more plants than were available for pre-order on the website, including special finds like clematis and other unique varieties.

🌱 Compost: From Plate to Garden
Bring your own bucket and take home nutrient-rich compost—$5 for a 5 gallon bucket full.

🎨 Free Art Activities (10 AM – 2 PM)
Enjoy creative, hands-on experiences led by local artists:
Make your own card with printmaking and stamping techniques
Paint a mini canvas to take home
Make a wood sign with Mobile Sign Shop
Create a puppet with In the Heart of the Beast
Design your own tie-dye shirt (bring one or purchase one on-site)

Love wood fired pizza? The Brick Oven Bus food truck will be at the Northern Lights Plant Sale at 11am on Saturday, May 10th! Grab your plants and stay for lunch!

🌺Not only will we have LOTs of annuals, some natives and perennials, dahlia tubers, veggies- lots of tomatoes!, herbs, and flower baskets for sale at great prices, but also:

👩🏾‍🎤Maker’s Market - a great place to find a gift for Mother’s Day!

🎨Student Market & Kid Activities. Students will be selling goods like masks, jewelry and comic books. Activities for kids like “Make a Potion”, wool felting, create a peg doll, face painting, and block printing! Our students are SO excited!

🍪Bake Sale: Delicious treats like rosemary focaccia bread, “Dad’s Cinnamon Rolls” and coffee for purchase.

🍋Lemonade Stand: Fresh squeezed and served by 1st and 2nd graders.

🪣Compost - High quality compost for sale. $5 for 5 gallons. Please bring 5 gallon buckets or other containers for transport. Burlap bags available for 1.50 ea.

Raffle: Bring cash, cash only. Tickets $2. Lots of gift cards and experiences!

Excited to announce we will have dahlia tubers at the Northern Lights Plant Sale from Cant Wait Flowers! We will have Ferncliff Illusion, Peanut Brittle, Shadow Cat, Crichton Honey, Jomnda and Copper Boy.
Dahlia Tubers are easy to grow! Just lay them sideways in the dirt and cover with 2 inches of soil. More info at the sale!

They make great cut flowers too! Pick some up at the sale today or tomorrrow!

Super high quality compost for sale at the Northern Lights Plant Sale! Bring your own buckets to save on buying a burlap bag for $1.50 to transport the good stuff. The cost for compost is $5 for 5 gallons. This is some of the highest quality compost you'll find as it's made from composted food scraps through the Plate to Garden composing program.
