Today is , which is one of my favorite days of the holiday season. This year is different though so I thought I’d pop in and update you all on why I haven’t been around lately. At the end of August I was diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stage 2). The diagnosis and treatments have been hard on my mind and body, so I made the choice to take a break from Plant Mama until I was feeling better. And quite honestly it’s been hard. I love being a small business owner, it is part of my identity and it’s been really difficult to take a break from it especially during the holiday season when it’s crazy and chaotic, because I love that part too. But it’s a good reminder that I am so lucky to be able to do what I do and that sometimes you just need to rest and come back refreshed and motivated. So I hope you are all out there supporting your favorite small businesses because it is so special for the owners and makers behind the scenes 🖤

Oh hello 👋🏼 It’s been a while, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Amanda, the hands behind Plant Mama. I am (very obviously) a lover of plants and living things. I am usually laughing or crying (lol), with cracked hands and dirty nails. You are guaranteed to find dirt on the ground of any place I touch but it’s kind of my trademark so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love the way nature teaches us about resilience, strength and beauty 🌱 I love making planters, because it means that somewhere, someone is bringing a plant into their life. To stare at and watch grow (and sometimes die, it happens to all of us) and live along side and sometimes talk to. You already know I’m a believer that and I love sharing that in common with you. Sometimes switching up what my planters look like feels weird, like it’s not staying “on brand” or something. But I’ve become pretty comfortable that each thing I make looks different and new and fresh, like this one. And I love it.
