This is a very unique plant and it needed a unique pot to give it justice.
This plant is very special to me. I purchased it last year as a No ID. The furthest I was able to trace its origin was from an unknown nursery in Thailand.
I have spent hours upon hours scouring every corner of the internet to find something similar and I have come up empty.
Individual fans are quite large. If I had to guess, I’d say there is Amami in it. It also appears to have some needle leaf in it. Standard green foliage that seems to tolerate high light well. Crescent tsuke. Mud roots. This is a large established specimen and has zero evidence of it ever flowering on any fan.
I don’t know the rules around naming but a plant like this deserves a name so I have taken it upon myself to name it, no matter how unofficial it may be.
When I see this plant I see a palm tree so I have named it Yashinoki ヤシの木.
