Our “Saint Croix Bluff House” has again been honored. This time it's a regional first place win in the 2024 Chrysalis Awards. Our "Arden Hills Mid-Century" kitchen has won another design award. This time it's a first place finish in the Midwest Home Design Awards. We're pleased that the judges loved this kitchen just as much as we do!

Midwest Home just published a wonderful piece on our "Clean and Green" kitchen today. This project was really a labor of love for us.

Our “Clean and Green” kitchen project has already won a regional Chrysalis award and a national Master Design Award this year. Well, now we just received news that it has also finished 1st in the Minnesota NKBA Design Competition. There was some fierce competition in the “Medium Kitchen” category this year so it’s especially gratifying to have won. Here are two “after” and “before” shots. The others are here:

For anyone who’s ever attended Modernism Week in Palm Springs, the double-decker architecture tour busses were a familiar sight. So too was the man responsible for leading those tours through some of the most spectacular MCM architecture in the US, the incomparable Robert Imber.

Sadly, Robert passed away earlier this week. He was an ambassador for Palm Springs Modernism, a committed preservationist, educator, and ModCom committee member. In 2016 He was honored with a star in front of the PS Museum’s Architecture and Design Center.

Robert will be sorely missed.

This time it’s a First Place finish in the Minnesota National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Design Competition. It’s awards season!

We have some exciting news to share. Knutson Residential Design LLC has just received a distinguished Master Design Award for our “Mill City Fireplace” project. The MDA is a national design competition sponsored by Qualified Remodeler magazine that each year recognizes the best renovation design work across the country.

The fireplace was inspired by the client’s “steampunk” art collection and Mill City, a neighboring “ruins park” composed of old bridges, tunnels and machinery from Minneapolis’s flour milling past. We imagined this piece as a machine that might have been uncovered with these ruins. Here's a link:
