📢 Community Safety Update: Teen Takeovers

The City of St. Pete Beach has been working closely with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) and its Intelligence-Led Policing Division to monitor reports of so-called "teen takeover" events that have occurred in communities across the country.

While these efforts are not always visible to the public, PCSO has been actively monitoring potential activity and has been successful in preventing incidents before they occur. In addition, PCSO currently maintains a dedicated multi-deputy beach detail that is specifically assigned to patrol and monitor our beach communities for any related concerns.

Protecting the safety of our residents, visitors, businesses, and public spaces remains a top priority. Law enforcement analysts continue to monitor trends, gather intelligence, and coordinate proactive enforcement efforts aimed at identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact our community.

We ask residents and business owners to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity as soon as possible. Early reporting is one of the most effective tools for preventing situations from escalating.

Michael Mulvaney, a New York City resident and station engineer, survived both the 1993 and 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attacks. During the 1993 bombing, he was injured by a blown-out door while heading to lunch, and in 2001, he successfully escaped the complex following the plane crash in the North Tower.
