What a wild and cold and windy day setting up for the start of Shopapalooza tomorrow for Annie's Plant Pallette ! Weather like this, especially, fierce wind, can be very challenging to vendors on their set up. Everyone has to make sure they are securing tents with lots of weights, and securing their product so it doesn't blow away !
Where are am I set up, you ask ?! Check out the map below, and zero in on the words "center zone & food rows" my booth is located just below those words, to the left.
Yup, you can see from the map, this is a big show and parking is a challenge I advise parking at the south core garage and getting the free shuttle that gets you right there. But being such a big show, there is a great hang out/rest area right in the middle and tons of yummy food vendors
As for other vendors ? Omg, there is sooo much Cool stuff there, you can fill your complete Holiday gift list with this show, but don't forget, Saturday Morning Market will still be going on as usual and, there is a lot of Holiday markets going on all around the area from Gulfport to Clearwater/Dunedin with vendors all bringing Fab stuff, so please support All the Local vendors that set up at these events.
I could not do this show without the support of my right hand man, Ray Gurgui who helps me pull the Pallette shows off, and bonus is that I get to bring a lot of great Rare and unusual tropicals that he grows, since he is my main go-to for sourcing items for the Rare division of my business.
And this really is all about family and those I hold close, and my big sister, Kip Mitchell, who has never done a vendor show in her life, but she's getting a real kick out out of it, and has been invaluable for logistics and support, and my son Dylan for providing strong arms and enthusiasm, and less we forget, the Plant man Mitch Armstrong, who is enjoying some very deserving retirement up in North Florida, sending his support to me and my family as well as grand hellos to all his friends here ❣

Even tho Mitch Armstrong Nursery can't be there, the annual fall Mt. Dora plant and garden fair this weekend in downtown Mt. Dora is a GO and we urge everyone to check it out ! Annie just got back from Mt. Dora on a plant hunting trip for her Annie's Plant Pallette, and thankfully the downtown and surrounding areas have been spared - there is NO flooding, no damage in the area. The only road that is closed, is the upper area of Donnelly street near north 441, which is well away from downtown, and you can easily get to the event from Old 441 on the west, or East from 441. 441 is all open, 46 is all open, plenty of parking in the downtown area, but we ready to walk. The event will have a plant holding area for easy pick up.
There will be great plant and garden art vendors there with beautiful goodies, many of the vendors there are veterans of this event for many years and they bring their Best Stuff !

Greetings to everyone and we are happy that we got thru the Summer market with this heat, and are grateful for so many customers that came out.

There are some changes going on with Armstrong nursery. Mitch has retired from the Saturday Morning Market, and Annie Sprague, with Annie's Plant Pallette will be at the market every week, under her own nursery business name.

Annie has been a part of the Armstrong Nursery for over 20 years and will continue to bring fab Plant Offerings to the market, focused mainly on Tropical House Plants & Succulents.

Mitch will continue into his semi-retirement mainly focusing on Plant Brokering to offer to other nurseries, using his immense knowledge of the Plant World.

The "Heyplantman" website will retire at some point and Annie, with Annie's Plant Pallette will be busily building up her own web and social media outlets and Blogging.

We both thank so many supporters that have helped us grow and evolve over the years, your support has been tremendous.

We are also super grateful for the support of a gentleman, Ray Gurgui, who has been with us since Covid time and helped us emerge during the darkness of those times, and helped us so much over these past 5 years. Ray will now have his own Vendor space at the Saturday Morning Market that will bring great plant product with his Rare and Unusual Tropicals, which he grows and is known for, Bromeliads and famous Shelled Orchids. Ray will be set up at market, right next to Annie's Plant Pallette, on the furthest East row of the market.

The new Market season, at Saturday Morning Market, downtown St. Pete, starts anew on Saturday, Oct. 4th and we hope to see you there !

Lots of Rain makes our gardens Happy 🌿 As we continue into Summer Market time, downtown St. Pete, at Williams Park (9am-1pm) every Saturday thru August, we've been lucky that rain has stayed away on Market mornings and the towering Oak trees are keeping everyone cool. Tomorrow (June 21st) we are having a Party...Party Time Joseph's Coat, that is ! A beautiful tropical perennial for your homes,, porches and shady gardens. Not commonly found anymore, we were lucky to come across it recently and will have them at market tomorrow.
We also have the last of the Spring crop of vines and we are down to 2 gorgeous full 3 gallon Lady Margaret Passion Vine, and one Purple Possem Edible Passion fruit vine (the summer crop will be coming along in July/Aug). As usual, we don't pull back on our exotic tropicals nor mini succulents and cactus any less. We have 3 full spaces at market chalked full of beautiful plants, so head on down and see us, and our market family of vendors who all will make your trip worthwhile 😎

It's that time of year again, the Saturday Morning Summer Market at Williams Park starts this weekend. We love the move to the Park as we move off of the asphalt of Al Lang Field parking lot and onto cool ground & grass, with glorious tall shade trees to keep customers, vendors and their products all more comfortable.

The Summer Market runs the entire months of June, July & August, with hours being 9am-1pm. With a wide array of produce & fruits, specialty cheeses, breads & deserts, specialty ingredients for any yummy meal and snacks, Foods & Drink to eat there or take home, Food trucks line the west side of the park, and of course many talented artisans are present where you can find some new duds for your wardrobe, beautiful hats to shade from our beaming sun, to bodycare products and rare gems and jewels, and of course, Ray and me will be there bringing beautiful Plants !

There is plenty of nearby parking and easy access to and from the park from all the exciting happenings downtown with grand restaurants, shops, the Pier, and not to forget, our drop dead gorgeous waterfront.

Coming to Summer Market and to our beautiful downtown, helps promote and support Small Business which is especially needed during the summertime. Can't wait to see you there 🌿😎

Tomorrow, May 31st, is the last day of the "regular" Saturday Morning Market 2024/2025 season, but we will jump right into Summer Market at Williams Park, downtown St. Pete the following weekend June 7th !
We've got some beautiful unique Medinillas along with a fresh selection of Exotic tropicals, Cacti & Succulents, Orchids, Passion Vines (who are now blooming and fruiting) and much more that will see us thru the last day of this regular season and right on into Summer time market.
It may be a bit of nice rain first thing but expected to clear out mid morning and all the market vendors will be there, come rain or shine 😍😎🌿

Summertime is here and with it comes annoying Skeeters ! We've got our Main Stays to help fend off the Skeeters and makes our noses happy - lavender, citronella, and rosemary πŸ₯° and also got another line of defense with gorgeous bug-eating Pitcher plants πŸ™ƒ
Also, something very special that usually only see online, is the unique Frizzle Sizzle plant and we found someone locally growing them !
Adding to some great summertime heat options, the Vinca soiree (tiny Periwinkles) which love sun or shade and adds gorgeous coral pink color to your flower beds and pots.
And of course, we can't do without bringing some very cool shade tropicals for houses, offices and/or porches.
And finally, not least, we have a beautiful new selection of 3 inch succulents and cacti that are dying to make your windowsills or shady porch, their new homes 🌿

Well, another great Green Thumb Festival is under our belt and we cannot thank enough to so many that came out to support us, as well as so many other plant business people and garden artisans.
We could not get by without 2 stalwarts nursery helpers, Oliver and Jestin, who helped the success of this past weekend, as well as being major players in our participating at our home base market of Saturday Morning Market downtown St. Pete every week - we truly we could not get by without the passion and energy these 2 people, along with Ray Gurgui (who is our right hand man at Market ) that help to continue our little nursery surviving.
The Plantman, Mitch, took a couple of bad tumbles this past week which meant he had to stay on the sidelines to heal but he is making strides to come back.
We will be back to our home base of the Saturday Morning Market, downtown St. Pete this Saturday, May 3rd for the rest of the month of May, and in June, the Market moves to Williams Park, downtown St. Pete for the summer every Saturday 9am-1pm.

RE Green Thumb - just some helpful thoughts -
Okay, from a long time vendors point of view: To be honest, official hours start is 9am, but we regularly see customers arriving at 7:30-8 am on, from the parking lot, from side streets, from the sidewalks etc.........Just be aware, that vendors are getting there at the crack of dawn to do last minute things - just be cognizant of vendors who may be doing those last minute things in their booth to be ready because they want signage in place, last minute stocking, things looking pretty etc and their check out ready to go..some might actually have tape across the front of the booth till they are set to go - we have done that in the past and some customers were actually indignant that we were keeping them out - please have patience and understanding, everyone wants your business, they just want to be truly ready with their set up and things in place. Historically, the first couple of hours is pretty easy and calm, it gets busier from 10:30 on. I would strongly advise, if you see something that really strikes a note, get it as soon as they are ready, don't rely on the same things being here a few hours later. I understand that many want to peruse the whole place and then make their decisions - and that is a time chance you take - and please please, don't do price comparisons with vendors ( ie "hey the guy over there is $5 cheaper") - Every vendor has different circumstances on their stock - some may grow it, some may buy and resale it, from different sources, at varying costs..... and I have found that each vendor sets a price that they need to cover their costs and make some profit, so please respect their pricing and make your own decisions about what you are willing to spend. The vendors here are all small business people, they are not conglomerates, and they have spent a lot of money on plant stock/related items, paying big fees to the city for the vending space, money to pay their helpers, paying for all the minutia in their booth, whether it being costs for tents/tables, rental vehicles, signage, bags, boxes, plus gas & lodging costs ( many are not that local) Your support is vital !
