I’m beyond grateful to share that Toftegaard Design has been nominated in the category of Best Landscape Companies in Best of the Bay 2025! 🐝💚

This work—rooted in love for the land, the pollinators, and the people who live here—is something I pour my whole heart into. Being recognized in this way means the world.

I do it to create healing outdoor spaces that nourish well-being, invite butterflies and bees back home, and gently reconnect us with the rhythms of nature.

Thank you to every client, friend, and supporter who believes in what I do. This nomination is ours. 💫

Now through August 17, you can vote daily—and it would mean so much to have your support!

Potted “mini” ecosystems

Here we planted Rosemary for kitchen use & height, Fl native beach verbena (purple) which will grow horizontally around the other plants and cover the soil, and oregano to trail down the sides of the planter.

Pots aren’t just for single plants, dress them up with multiple plants that serve your lifestyle, the bees, and your curb appeal.

The simplicity of shadow play is far underrated.

Patterns and color can be found in plants and materials, shadows move and dance on surfaces and walls without effort.

Keeping key pieces neutral allows you to appreciate this play.

The depths of textures and pigments draw you closer.

What was once just a patchy grass lawn is now an eco-friendly oasis! 🌿✨

Florida-friendly perennial peanut ground cover thrives nestled in a blanket of pine straw, while native muhly grass brings soft movement to the cozy reading nook by the front windows. Bordering the space are vibrant orange blanket flowers, Florida rosemary, and seaside goldenrod, creating a haven for birds and pollinators.

The ground cover is working its magic by repairing nitrogen in the sandy soil, and it’s already attracting a variety of birds making this transformation as beneficial as it is beautiful!

Switching from grass to plants with deeper roots helps sandy soils absorb rainwater more effectively, reducing runoff and conserving water.
